Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Big Splash

When and where is it?

Wednesday 6 March 2019 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Albury Swim Centre in Wodonga Place.

.

Who can enter?

Everyone of all ages and abilities is welcome to enter a race. There is no age limit.

.

What is the cost of entry?

It costs $100 per team to enter a race in the Albury Wodonga Big Splash. For those not racing, entry to the Albury Swim Centre is a gold coin donation on the night. All proceeds from the evening (net of operating expenses) will be split between headspace Albury Wodonga and Survivors of Suicide and Friends.

.

I just want to come and have fun. Are the races very serious?

No – the entire event is an enjoyable evening out. We have boogie board races and tube races and we encourage everyone to enter so this is definitely not a serious and highly competitive event.

.

Are there any prizes for the race winners?

There are prizes for the race winners that have been generously donated by local businesses.

.

What if I want to enter but I can’t find a team?

We will find a team for you

.

Do kids get to race against adults?

Yes, this can happen! It depends on the numbers and combinations of the teams that enter on the night. Race organisers will try to coordinate the races so they are fair but fun!

.

Can I still enter even if I can’t swim?

There is no requirement that you must be able to swim to enter a race, but it does help! If you feel more comfortable (or you just think it would be more fun!) you are welcome to enter our lilo, tube and pool noodle races. These are all fun events for the less serious swimmer.

.

Will there be lifeguards on duty?

Yes, there will be full lifeguard duty poolside during the Albury Wodonga Big Splash monitoring all the races and activities.

.

What should I wear?

Anything that you are happy to get wet! We encourage costumes and colourful outfits (face painting is great!) but if you prefer to just wear plain old swimmers, that’s fine too!

.

What live entertainment can I expect?

All the races are commentated live and much of the focus is on the antics in the pool. There is plenty of shouting, cheering and laughter to keep everyone entertained.

.

Will the Albury Swim Centre be open to everyone on the night?

Yes. Entry on the night is a gold coin donation. We encourage spectators to come and enjoy the fun. The 25m pool is available for a swim and the waterslide is operational and free from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.

.

Will there be food and drinks available?

As well as the Albury Swim Centre canteen, there will be a barbeque available on the night provided by the Rotary Club of Albury West.

.

Do I have to stay for the entire event?

Come for an hour or two or stay for the whole event. It is entirely up to you!
